The Classical™ 7 circuit labyrinth appeared on every continent in prehistory, from Peru to Siberia, India to Arizona, Africa to Scandinavia. Carbon dated to 1500 B.C.E. from a clay tablet in Syria, the design is probably 5,000 years old.
Where and how the Classical™ labyrinth symbol developed is shrouded in mystery, but it seems likely that the labyrinth evolved from other universal symbol sets, including the circle, spiral, cross and meander. By association with the story of Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur, the Classical™ labyrinth is also known as the Cretan labyrinth.
